What is Network Security?

In order to explain network security, we must first define the network.
The network we are referring to when analyzing network security is a computer network which consists of your computer, routers, printers and scanners, all of which share resources and data.

The main question you need to ask your self is “How can I keep the data that is being shared through my computer safe?” If you run a business , you may have sensitive information about finances, employees and business plans on your computer network. Your personal computer probably also has information that you would want to be network secure.

The ultimate threats to your network security include computer viruses, worms and Trojan horses. You will need multiple layers of security to insure that your computer network is secure. You will want to explore security software including anti virus software and anti spyware. A firewall will provide an extra layer of protection for your computer network. Make sure your security software is updated on a regular basis as new security threats are always being revealed in the cyber world. Your network security software will notify you with frequent updates and security patches for the most recent security threats to your computer network.
